🍃 The Phyllium philippinicum is native to the Philippines but bred in Spain. This species stands out for its incredible camouflage ability: its body perfectly mimics a leaf, both in shape, texture, and color. One of its most curious behaviors is that, when they feel a breeze, they sway as if they were another leaf on the tree, camouflaging themselves even more. You can see this for yourself by gently blowing on it in your terrarium. It is one of the easiest leaf insect species to care for.

Unlike many nocturnal species, the Phyllium philippinicum is active both day and night, making it a very entertaining pet to watch.

🌿 Care sheet :

  • Size at birth : 1.3 cm. Adults : males 5 cm, females 8 cm.

  • Coloration : green tones depending on the specimen.

  • Minimum terrarium : 2 times its length in width and 3 times its height.

  • Humidity : 60–70%.

  • Food : Fresh leaves of bramble and rosebush.

They complete their development after 5 moults in males and 6 in females (about 6–7 months), and adult females can live up to 7 more months.
