About us
Who are we?
Our story
Scale Area is much more than an online shop for reptile, amphibian and invertebrate products. It was born from the personal and professional commitment of Javi, the shop's owner, who is a vet and has been passionate about reptiles since childhood, devoting his life to studying how to improve the welfare of these animals in captivity.
During his university years, Javi noticed that many of the reptiles brought into the clinic ill were there because of husbandry problems, unsuitable setups or incorrect lighting. The cause, in most cases, was always the same: a lack of information or specialist advice when acquiring and keeping these animals.
After all, caring for a reptile from the tropical rainforest is not the same as caring for one from the most arid desert. Each species has very specific needs in terms of temperature, humidity, lighting and type of terrarium, and knowing them makes the difference between a healthy life and one full of deficiencies.
Our mission
Scale Area was founded to fill that gap: offering not only quality products for reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates, but also the expert advice that is so often missing. We help you choose from the wide range of accessories and lighting on the market, so you can rest easy knowing your pet is getting the care it needs.
A real commitment to exotic animals
As well as being an online shop, Scale Area is a licensed zoological facility specialising in the responsible breeding of the panther chameleon (Furcifer pardalis), a species we are passionate about and have kept for years in facilities adapted to its real needs.
We also breed exotic invertebrates such as mantises, phasmids, beetles and isopods, both as part of our range for bioactive terrariums and for the education about and conservation of these species. All specimens are bred under controlled conditions and receive high-quality food to ensure their health and longevity.
We do not sell products at random here: we test, evaluate and select only what we know works. Because for us, reptiles are not a business, they are a way of life.
